Christmas Eve was once again at Mike and Dot’s house this year. Everyone showed up around 5 pm and we enjoyed a delicious ham along with the fantastic side dishes that are always a part of a Wynne event. I’m … Continue reading

Abby’s Birthday–Part Deux

We had Jean’s family over to celebrate Abby’s birthday on Sunday May 23rd.  We had a crazy week and it was the first chance we had to get the Wynne’s over to celebrate her big day.

We had Mike and Dot’s family along with Carole and Natalie.  Dinner was fantastic once again, although this time I’ll take the credit since I ended up grilling the burgers and dogs.  ;)   We also had a little striped bass that Gram and Pop brought back from Kate and Aaron’s house.

For whipping something together very last minute, it ended up being a nice way to wrap up our weekend.

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was a laid back day around the Mac Shack. We had an early start to the morning because Jake had to serve 8 am mass. It was a bit of a struggle getting everyone out of bed, but once we got going it wasn’t too difficult.

After mass, we came home and Jean cooked up a huge breakfast. It was our normal holiday fare of baked eggs, along with a bunch of sausage links and bacon. My mom is usually around for holiday breakfast, but she went to Kansas to visit my Aunt Virginia. It was a bit weird having holiday breakfast without my family there, but it was nice just to sit around with the five of us with nothing to do.

For dinner, we went over to Jean’s brother Mike’s house for dinner with all the Wynne’s. Everyone was able to make it (aside from Kate and Aaron) along with Dottie’s sister Lori and her friend Mary Anne. The food was to die for; Jean’s mom did a fantastic job with everything.

Brett's Birthday–Part 1

Sunday we celebrated Brett’s 7th birthday a few days early because we would be in Florida on the actual day.  We started the morning with a quick trip to church, and from there we headed over to Legacy Karate for Brett’s “friend” party.  We rented the gym for a little over an hour and Brett had twelve of his best buddies there to do play some fun karate games.  Once we wrapped up, we went next door with the group of boys to have pizza at Bravo.

Later in the day, we had the Wynne clan over to celebrate his “family” party.  Dottie and her kids, Tom & Carole, Jim & Kim, and Gram & Pop were all able to make it, along with all the Grandkids except Michael, who had lacrosse tryouts.  The Haffey’s also came for dinner, so we had a full house for the little man’s birthday.  We ordered a couple of hoagies from Corropolese along with one of my favorite foods, Corropolese meat balls.  Jean had a nice spread put out for all to enjoy, and I think it’s safe to say that no one left hungry.

Wynne Christmas Party

Story best viewed at The Mac Shack.

Sunday started off somewhat lazily, with everyone lounging around in bed still trying to recover from a couple of late nights and over eating.  Jake had to serve at 11:15, so there was no rush to get everyone out of bed.  The only bummer was that Brett was up and at them by 7:15 in the morning.  I bit the bullet and got up with him while Jean grabbed an extra couple of hours of sleep. We had a party to go to that afternoon, so Jean spent the morning cooking some chicken wings, which smelled incredible.

After mass it was off to the Wynne holiday party at Billy Wynne’s house over in Harleysville. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten together with that side of the family. I’m thinking it’s been at least three years?

It was all of Pop’s siblings, along with their children and grandchildren. I have no idea how many people were there, but it was easily over 60. Heck, Pop’s family alone comes in at 23 with kids and grandkids, so it could have been more people. Nothing like getting a bunch of Irish Catholics together.

Jean, Abby, and Brett went right after church, while Jake and I met up with them about 2 hours into the party. Jake had a CYO game, which they won, and then we zoomed right over.
